An expert mission of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) headed by Jean-Francois Dauphin is visiting Bulgaria from November 30 to December 6.

During the opening meeting, the Minister of Finance Rositsa Velkova

Rositsa Velkova was born on March 16, 1972 in Sofia.

During the conversation, she explained the reasons and arguments for the government's decision to submit to the National Assembly a draft of an extension law on the budget, which was passed yesterday at the first vote in the National Assembly, and added what the parliamentary procedure and deadlines for its final adoption are. 

Minister Velkova: With an expected recession in the Eurozone, there is no option in which it will not be imported to our country

Minister Velkova informed Jean-Francois Dauphin and the experts about the progress of our country's technical preparation for joining the Eurozone and confirmed the intention of the Bulgarian government for this to happen from the beginning of 2024.

The subject of the discussion was the first payment under the Recovery and Resilience Plan, which is due in the coming weeks, as well as the conditions that should be met for the next two payments.

During their visit, IMF experts will meet with representatives of Bulgarian institutions and organizations to discuss current macroeconomic processes and the current economic situation.

During the discussions, the economic consequences of the war in Ukraine, as well as the appropriate fiscal and energy policies to preserve macroeconomic stability, will be discussed, the press center of the MoF announced.
