The advisor of the President's Office, Oleksiy Arestovich, told how the former president of Georgia, Mikheil Saakashvili, can be released from prison.

He said this on November 30 in a conversation with Russian human rights defender Mark Feigin.

"According to the information that I have, I would suggest handing him over to a third country, for example some Austria, to provide full treatment under the condition of keeping him in custody. On the one hand, this will allow the Georgian side to ensure justice, but also to preserve his health. I would suggest that to the Georgian side, because they don't want him to die in prison. Then try him, but hand him over to a third party. That way you'll avoid suspicions that you poisoned him or want to kill him. So let's give him full treatment plus justice," Arestovych said.

The arrest of Saakashvili and his alleged poisoning

The former president of Georgia, Mikheil

Saakashvili, was detained

by Georgian law enforcement officers on October 1, 2021.

Prior to that, the Prime Minister of Georgia, Iraklii Garibashvili, warned the ex-president that he would go to prison upon his return.

Because in 2018, the Tbilisi City Court sentenced him in absentia to three years in prison for exceeding his official powers as the head of state.

On November 28, Saakashvili's lawyer said that the condition of the imprisoned politician has deteriorated sharply.

Alleged traces of a deadly poison were found in his body.
