At the beginning of the meeting, President Zoran Milanovic congratulated our country on the occasion of freeing its lands from occupation and restoring its territorial integrity after 30 years of occupation, and stressed that Croatia always supports the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan.

The ambassador noted that in 2016, the President of the Republic of Croatia, Ms. Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović, made an official visit to Baku, and the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. Ilham Aliyev, to Zagreb in 2018, and that these visits gave a strong impetus to the development of bilateral relations between our countries.

A. Imanov emphasized the importance of continuing high-level mutual visits between our countries, activating political dialogue between our countries, which are strategic partners, and mutual support on various platforms.

The ambassador also gave detailed information about the fact that hundreds of cities and villages of Azerbaijan were completely destroyed as a result of the occupation of Armenia, the country's economy suffered a huge amount of damage, and about a million refugees and internally displaced persons lived in difficult conditions in different regions of our country for decades.

Later, the ambassador stated that our territories were mined during the occupation, which seriously hinders the ongoing restoration and reconstruction works, that time and large financial resources are required to clear the territories from mines, but despite the above, extensive restoration and reconstruction works are currently being carried out in the territories freed from occupation.

Imanov emphasized that as a result of the signing of the peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan, the delimitation and demarcation of the borders between the two countries, and the restoration of economic and transport relations, the path to sustainable peace and economic progress in the region will be opened within the framework of the peace initiative proposed by Azerbaijan.

The ambassador also noted that there is a great potential for economic and commercial cooperation and mutual investment between our countries, the importance of expanding relations in the fields of industry, agriculture, agriculture, and tourism.
