The Ministry of Health explained which patients are primarily sent to clinics abroad during the war in Ukraine.

This is stated in the notification of the ministry.

The experts noted that children and adults with complex mine-explosive injuries and burn injuries, children with oncological pathology, as well as people with diseases that require complex specialized therapy are primarily transported abroad for treatment.

In order to participate in the evacuation, you need to submit a request.

This can be done in two ways:

Through the family doctor

  • The family doctor or hospital specialist decides on the necessity of sending the patient for treatment abroad and informs the regional medical evacuation coordinator about it.

  • The regional coordinator processes the request and forwards it to the medical evacuation team at the Ministry of Health.

  • The Ministry of Health verifies the data, informs the patient about the medical evacuation route and, with the patient's consent, sends a corresponding request to the emergency response system of the European Commission and waits for proposals from hospitals from the member states of the European Union, where the patient can be redirected.

  • When a suitable medical facility in the partner countries is found, issues regarding the patient's transportation are agreed upon.

Through the online form

Currently, many people have lost contact with family doctors, so the Ministry of Health has provided another way to apply for medical evacuation - through an online form.

To do this, on the Ministry's website in the "Citizens" section, you need to fill out the appropriate application yourself.

Next, the Ministry of Health will verify all the data and check the information, after which you will be given feedback.

Usually, patient preparation lasts from 3-4 days to two weeks.

However, each case of medical evacuation requires a separate approach.

We remind you that evacuation for Ukrainian patients is free of charge.

Earlier, the Ministry of Health explained whether it is possible to receive medical assistance at the place of residence and without re-signing the declaration.
