Today, November 29, a shortage of electricity in the amount of about 74% is expected in Moldova.

According to Andrii Spinu, Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development of Moldova, electricity prices on the European market have increased by 30-40% for unknown reasons.

In this regard, the Moldovan company Energocom was unable to purchase the required volume.

This is reported by NewsMaker.

"An incomprehensible phenomenon happened today. In European markets, in particular in Romania, electricity prices have increased significantly. Almost 30-40%. The Energocom company tried to buy electricity at a lower price, but could not buy electricity for the whole day," said Spinu.

In this regard, according to the minister, Moldelectrica requested emergency electricity from the Romanian operator Transelectrica.

True, the cost of such electricity is high, so Spinu urged citizens to continue saving electricity.

"The more we save, the less emergency energy we will have tomorrow from Romania. Tomorrow we will know the price. So far it was €200-€300 per MWh, depending on when the contract was signed," the minister said.

A little earlier, the state-owned enterprise Moldelectrica warned that on November 29, a shortage of electricity in the amount of about 74% is expected in Moldova

"The expected shortfall will be covered by an emergency contract for the supply of electricity. Confirmation of availability has already been received from a company in a neighboring state," the company assured.

Currently, Moldova buys more than 80% of the electricity it needs from Romania.

Moldova buys the rest on the Romanian stock exchange at an average price of €180 per MW.

We will remind that Moldova was cut off after a massive missile attack by the Russian Federation on energy facilities in Ukraine.

Because of this, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Moldova summoned the Russian ambassador.

The President of Moldova, Maia Sandu, said that Russia is trying to keep her country in the dark.
