NATO will strengthen its presence from the Black Sea to the Baltic Sea.

APA reports that US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said this during a press conference held in Budapest on the results of his meeting with Romanian Foreign Minister Bogdan Aurescu.

He added that the Black Sea region is of strategic importance for the NATO alliance and is the most important element of the alliance's defense.

"It is impossible to stop our progress.

We will strengthen NATO's presence from the Black Sea to the Baltic Sea.

Within the framework of the work done in this direction and for the implementation and strengthening of our Black Sea strategy, we (USA and Romania-ed.) are constantly working with each other, as well as with NATO.

"Romania is a very important participant in these works and also in the larger steps taken to ensure that NATO is the strongest defense alliance," Blinken stressed.

According to him, the United States insists on building modern and interoperable armed forces that will be useful for the entire NATO space, including the Black Sea region.
