The post-mortem of a rat, which was drowned on Friday in the Sadar Kotwali area of ​​Badaun district of Uttar Pradesh, was done at the Indian Veterinary Research Institute (IVRI) in Bareilly on Saturday. Dr. Ashok Kumar, scientist at IVR, did the post-mortem of the rat's body.

Officer-in-charge of the post-mortem department, Dr. Pawan Kumar said on Sunday that the post-mortem of the rat has been done and the report will be submitted in the next four-five days.

Chief Veterinary Officer Dr. AK Jadaun said that this kind of killing of rats comes under the Animal Cruelty Act.

Inspector in-charge of Badaun Kotwali Harpal Singh said that further action will be taken after the post-mortem report of the rat. It is noteworthy that animal lover Vikendra Sharma on Friday tied a person named Manoj Kumar in the tail of a rat near Badaun's power sub-station. After tying a stone to him, he was seen throwing it in the drain.

On Vikendra's Tahrir, Sadar Kotwali police sealed the rat's body and sent it to Badaun's veterinary hospital, but the staff there refused to do postmortem due to lack of resources.

After this, the body of the dead rat was sent to IVRI, Bareilly for post-mortem. Alok Mishra, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Badaun Nagar, told that a complaint was received about drowning the rat in the drain, on which the accused Manoj Kumar was taken to the police station while taking immediate action. He was called and interrogated. He said that legal action will be taken against the accused after the post mortem report is received.

However, the Deputy Superintendent of Police clarified that the rat does not come under the category of animal, so the Animal Cruelty Act will not apply.

Significantly, a complaint was made to the police regarding the death of a rat on Friday in Sadar Kotwali area of ​​Badaun district.

Vikendra Sharma, District President of 'People for Animals' had told that he saw on the way that after catching a rat, a young man tied a piece of stone to its tail and threw it into the drain.

On this, Sharma jumped into the drain and pulled out the rat, but it died in a while.

According to police sources, Vikendra has given a tahrir to the Sadar Kotwali police under the Animal Cruelty Act.

In this, he has mentioned that on Friday afternoon, when he was passing near the Gandhi Ground intersection of the city, a young man named Manoj Kumar was seen tying a stone to the tail of a rat and throwing it into the drain there.

He immediately jumped into the drain and pulled out the rat, but it had died.
