In the area along Dongshan Road in Beitun District, Taichung City, a major power outage suddenly occurred tonight.

[Reporter Xu Guozhen/Taichung Report] Sudden power outages were reported in many areas of Beitun District, Taichung City this evening, causing the local area to be completely dark, with traffic signals malfunctioning and traffic in chaos. Emergency repairs were sent, and the power was restored after about an hour. Fortunately, no accidents were caused, and it was a false alarm.

Taipower received a power outage notification at around 8:00 pm. The affected areas include users in the area including Junhe Street, Yixin 1st Street, Section 1 of Dongshan Road, Junfu 18th Road, and Songzhu 5th Road in Beitun District, Taichung City. 4318 households were out of power. Emergency repairs were carried out, and the power was restored at 9:44 p.m. As for the cause of the power outage, it was suspected to be a failure of the export cable, and the main cause of the cable failure will be further confirmed.

During the period, the traffic signals along Dongshan Road, Xiangshun Road and other intersections were also affected. The fifth branch of the district said that the road section affected by the signal failure was the intersection of Dongshan Road and Songzhu Road. The police immediately dispatched police to command Traffic, and notified Taipower personnel to come to repair, but fortunately no accident was caused.
