A new study by scientists has proven that many of us don't really need to drink 8 glasses of water a day.

The Daily Mail writes about it.

However, in a new study, a little more than 90 scientists from different parts of the world combined their efforts.

They all collaborated to measure the circulation of water in the human body using a new method.

In total, more than 5,500 people from more than two dozen countries took part in the study.

During the research, the participants had to drink a measured amount of water enriched with deuterium, which is naturally present in the human body and does not pose a threat.

After that, the researchers measured the rate at which deuterium disappears from the body, that is, they measured the speed of the water circulation process in the human body.

The result shows that people who live in hotter and more humid regions and at high altitudes, as well as athletes, pregnant and lactating women, need more water because the rate of its turnover in the body is higher.

Researchers note that the volume of water largely depends on what food we eat.

In addition, coffee, tea, juices and other drinks that we consume should also be included in the daily water intake.

The researchers came to the conclusion that consuming 8 glasses of water per day, most likely, will not harm the human body, but it will not bring any benefit either.

According to the traditional opinion of doctors, drinking plain water should be used to prevent kidney diseases and obesity.

Earlier it became known that researchers from McMaster University in Canada were able to identify proteins that are affected by caffeine and thanks to this, they help the liver to remove bad cholesterol from the bloodstream.

As a result, the process protects a person from the appearance of cardiovascular diseases.
