The Mayor of Kyiv, Volodymyr Klychko, explained why public transport stops during an air alert and whether it is worth reconsidering this decision.

He reported this in an interview with "RBK-Ukraine".

Yes, according to Klitschko, this is a recommendation of the military, which is carried out for the safety of citizens, so there are no plans to overturn this decision.

"You can raise information when a projectile hit a bus in Mykolaiv. The people on the bus are a target, and the probability of death for a large number of people is very high. This is not the "whim" of Klitschko or anyone else, these are the recommendations of the military, which rely on security. That is, on at the stop, people must get out of the transport - and further, it is their personal personal responsibility. We cannot expose them to the risk of dying. These are the key rules that are prescribed and which we also follow solely for safety reasons," the mayor of the capital emphasized.

Klitschko noted that the crowding of people at bus stops who do not go to shelter during an air raid is their personal responsibility.

"The fact that someone is irresponsible about this, got off the bus, gathered at the bus stop and did not go to shelter is their personal responsibility. There are air alert rules that everyone must follow," the Kyiv mayor explained.

As a reminder, public transport stops in Kyiv during an air raid.

Not all residents of the capital reacted positively to such a decision and even tried to cancel it by registering a corresponding petition.

However, the Defense Council of the city of Kyiv considered it, but did not cancel its decision of August 1.

That is, transport in Kyiv continues to stop after the announcement of the air alert.
