Chief Prosecutor Ivan Geshev

Ivan Stoimenov Geshev was born on December 19, 1970.

He graduated from higher legal education in emphasized that as a result of the unsuccessful legislative changes that closed the specialized justice, the main priority for the prosecutor's office is currently the restoration of specialization in the 28 district prosecutor's offices for investigating the most serious crimes in Bulgaria.

"The closure of the specialized prosecutor's office is a national tragedy because it set us back 12 years.

Unfortunately, thanks to a previous Minister of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Internal Affairs is also in a tragic state, namely that it uncovers crimes.

Fortunately, the judiciary is stable.

We are building a new specialization in cybercrime, in organized crime, in terrorism.

That is why trainings are extremely important, as well as drawing from the experience of the best in these fields.

With direct, personal contact, in addition to exchanging experience, it also helps to achieve a faster result in the fight against crime," Geshev pointed out.

He emphasized that the prosecutor's office works in excellent cooperation with all the countries of the European Union, as well as with partner countries such as Great Britain.

Adrian Flesher of the Crown Prosecution Service, said that he recently had the opportunity to meet personally with Bulgarian prosecutors and with the Deputy Chief Prosecutor and Director of the NSlS Borislav Sarafov, who were visiting the UK.

"By strengthening Bulgarian-British cooperation, we will be able to improve our work in the prosecution of cybercrimes, which know no borders.

I look forward to getting to know each other and together forging mechanisms to fight cybercrime and serious crime,” said Adrian Flesher.

The Deputy Prosecutor General and Director of NSLS Borislav Sarafov expressed his gratitude to the Ambassador of the United Kingdom, Rob Dixon, without whose assistance the training conference would not have been possible.

"Special thanks also to colleague Adrian Flesher, whom I had the honor of visiting in February of this year.

The week at the British Public Prosecutor's Office and the National Crime Agency of the United Kingdom gave me the necessary knowledge and ideas to structure a little later in the NSlS a unit to fight cybercrime, which is the crime of our time.

Unfortunately for the future as well.

It will be an achievement to be able to draw from the exceptional professional experience and organization at the highest world level that exists in the Crown Prosecution Service and the National Crime Agency in Great Britain," said Borislav Sarafov.
