The line of communication established between the United States and Russian militaries at the start of Moscow's war against Ukraine has so far been used only once.

This was reported by Reuters with reference to the information of an American official.

The official, who was not named, said the U.S. initiated the call through a "deconfliction" line to raise concerns about Russian "military operations" near critical infrastructure in Ukraine.

Details of the incident that led to the call on the line connecting the US Forces European Command and Russia's National Defense Command Center were not released.

The official declined to elaborate, but said it was not used when the errant missile fell in Poland on Nov. 15.

"The explosion was probably caused by a Ukrainian air defense missile, but the ultimate responsibility lies with Russia, since it started the war at the end of February, NATO said," the report said.

It will be recalled that the White House announced that Joe Biden's administration is not conducting non-public negotiations with Russia regarding Ukraine.
