Uladzimir Vakulenko is a children's writer, poet, laureate of numerous literary awards.

At the beginning of October 2020, thanks to the writer's ideas and initiative, an anthology of Belarusian poetry "Long live Belarus!" was published in Ukraine.

The anthology includes the works of 33 Belarusian authors, which were translated by 28 translators from 4 countries: Ukraine, Lithuania, Latvia and Poland.

Poet and translator Andrey Khodanovich wrote a memoir about Vladimir Vakulenko on his Facebook today:

"Vladimir has a minor son who is disabled and needs help.

In 2020, Volodya was one of the first writers to respond to the Belarusian protests and repressions.

He turned to poets and translators and prepared an anthology of Belarusian poetry "Long live Belarus!"

Vladimir disappeared in the village of Kapitolovka near Izyum in March 2022.

The parents were looking for their only son for more than six months.

Later it became known that he was kidnapped by the Russians.
