After 9 months of the war in Ukraine, the mothers of Russian soldiers began to worry about the future of their children, because "poverty began to knock on their homes" because of the war.

This is stated in an open letter from mothers of the Russian Federation to the head of the Committee on Social Policy of the Federation Council, the head of the State Duma Committee on Family, Women and Children and members of these committees.

The letter was initiated by the mothers of the "Feminist Anti-War Resistance" movement and the initiative group of mothers of mobilized and conscript soldiers.

The Russian mothers began their letter by saying that they are worried about what has been happening between Russia and Ukraine for 9 months, which "can't help but worry their maternal hearts."

"Despite all the promises of support from the state, the standard of living is decreasing, and poverty is knocking on the doors of the absolute majority of Russian families. After February 24, the situation only gets worse. The sanctions caused by the military operation in Ukraine lead to an increase in inflation, and in conditions of inflation matkapital and all benefits, which were barely enough, are depreciating. According to official Rosstat data, almost every fifth child lives in a family with an average income below the subsistence minimum per person, that is, in poverty. The state encourages us to give birth more, and then abandons keeps us in poverty or sacrifices our children to his ambitions," the letter reads.

Mothers note that the Russian Federation is spending huge amounts of money on the war against Ukraine at a time when they could have been invested in the well-being of the country, but instead only talk about the successes and greatness of the Russian Federation is heard.

"At least 318,000 men have already been mobilized (Vladimir Putin calls this number). The men were taken away even though they have minor children to support. In many regions, the families of the mobilized had to gather them to death on their own, buying everything with their own money, up to to bulletproof vests. Who will provide for families who have lost their breadwinners? Mothers of conscripts and conscripts are forced to humbly knock on the thresholds of city administrations, trying to bring their sons and husbands home. They hold pickets, write collective appeals, submit petitions, and no one hears them! The authorities demonstrates his true attitude towards mothers," Russian women complain in an open letter.

They are also outraged by the fact that no one takes the bodies of their sons, husbands and fathers from the battlefield and returns them home.

"Military action is a disaster, regardless of what it is officially called. We are horrified by what is happening. We are against the participation of our sons, brothers, husbands, fathers, we ourselves do not want to participate in this. Obviously that supporting aggressive hostilities is incompatible with the protection of the family, women and children. We demand the withdrawal of troops from the territory of Ukraine, the return of all soldiers to their homes, the protection of conscript soldiers from participating in any military operations, the adoption of a law on the prevention of family violence violence, decent material support for childhood and motherhood," the letter says.

We will remind that in the Russian Federation, the public movement of relatives of Russian conscripts and conscripts is demanding the return of their loved ones from the front and is seeking an open meeting with the president and Putin.
