Ukrainians should decide for themselves when they need to go to negotiations with Russia.

This was stated by American diplomat, US ambassador to Ukraine (2006-2009), US chargé d'affaires in Ukraine (2019-2020) William Taylor, Freedom channel informs.

"I don't think that now is the time for negotiations. In my opinion, the best time is when the Ukrainians decide for themselves. And I think that the time will come when the Ukrainians will drive the Russians out of their country. Only when the Ukrainian troops will drive the Russian troops out of country, then the Russians will understand that they cannot win this war," he explained.

According to the diplomat, the Russians will come with a request for serious negotiations after their military defeat.

"But now is not the time, now the Ukrainian military is winning on the battlefield. Why talk about a ceasefire? To allow the Russians to stay put when they are pushed out?"

- said the ambassador.

He emphasized that all Ukrainian territories, in particular Crimea and ORDLO, seized in 2014, must be freed from Russian occupiers.

"Military dynamics will determine the order in which the Russians will be pushed out. But sooner or later all the Russian occupiers will leave the territory of Ukraine," said Taylor.

At the same time, he noted that it will be difficult to liberate Crimea only by military means.

What is known about the probable negotiations between Ukraine and the Russian Federation

Earlier, the White House announced that the administration of the US president is not conducting non-public negotiations with Russia regarding Ukraine.

This is how the USA commented on Sullivan's talks with Putin's advisers.

However, according to the Wall Street Journal, the United States is privately hinting to Kyiv about the need for negotiations.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine explained that Russia is trying to buy time by announcing negotiations.

Russian oppositionist Leonid Gozman also believes that after the armistice, the Russian army can regroup and attack Ukraine again with new forces.

According to Mykhailo Podoliak, adviser to the head of the OP, the West's efforts to bring Ukraine to the negotiating table after a series of major military victories are tantamount to asking for surrender.
