In the event of an attack by the Russian occupying forces on the nuclear plant

of Ukraine

, the countries bordering our country may suffer, because the direction of the wind will also depend on where the radiation cloud will be aimed.

This was said by Petro Kotin, head of Energoatom NAEC, during the telethon.

He assured that it is difficult to get to the nuclear material at the NPP, but if the occupiers still hit the plant, there will be a radioactive release.

And where it will "go" and where there will be the greatest radiation will depend on the direction of the wind.

Kotin admits that these may also be states neighboring Ukraine.

"The nuclear plant has defense in depth (Defense in Depth), in fact it has 5 physical barriers and 5 organizational barriers. That is, it is not so easy to get to the nuclear material there, but if you set such a goal and be completely crazy, then it there will be a radiation accident, a radiation cloud, and there will be a radioactive release," Kotin explained.

It should be noted that now the Russians can cause an atomic catastrophe with their criminal actions.

Back in March, the occupiers seized Europe's largest Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant and regularly stage provocations and shelling there.

For the first time in history, due to frequent shelling by the Russian Federation, the ZNPP was turned off from the network in September.

The safety of the Rivne, South Ukrainian and Khmelnytsky NPPs may be at risk due to

potential further attacks by the Russian Federation on the Ukrainian energy system.

Mykhailo Podolyak, adviser to the head of the President's Office, warned about the danger the other day.

On November 23, units at the Rivne, South Ukrainian and Khmelnytsky NPPs were disconnected from the power system

due to Russian shelling and a decrease in frequency in the energy system in Ukraine .

The IAEA reported on November 25 that all Ukrainian nuclear power plants have access to the national grid again.

IAEA Director Rafael Grossi said that the nuclear safety situation in the country is becoming increasingly unstable.

This happened because the Rivne, South Ukrainian and Khmelnytsky NPPs stopped working due to missile strikes.
