Niece of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei

Seyyid Ali Hosseini Khamenei is an Iranian cleric and the current Supreme Leader of Iran.

He was born to 19, who is a prominent human rights activist who called on governments around the world to sever ties with Iran because of the Iranian authorities' violence against demonstrators, Reuters reported, quoted by BTA.

This call by Farideh Moradhani, a graduate engineer whose father is a prominent Iranian opposition figure and married to Khamenei's sister, went viral on social media after the opposition news agency HRANA reported that she had been arrested on November 23.

"O free people, stand with us and tell your rulers to stop supporting this bloody regime that kills children," Moradhani said.

"This regime does not adhere to any of its religious principles and knows no other rules than force and the preservation of power," she added.

According to HRANA, in the demonstrations that started more than two months ago, 450 protesters have died so far across Iran, incl.

63 minors.

60 security personnel were also killed and 18,173 demonstrators were detained.

Iran has sent more troops to areas affected by protests

The protests began over the death of a young woman in the custody of the moral police, but later turned into political ones demanding the overthrow of the ayatollahs' regime.
