On the evening of November 26, a bus carrying Ukrainian military personnel was involved in a traffic accident near the city of Ainaži in Latvia.

As a result of the accident, the bus driver died, and 26 passengers received various injuries.

Three of them require serious medical attention.

The press service of the Estonian Defense Forces reported the accident on Sunday, November 27.

"The Defense Forces express their condolences to the relatives and friends of the bus driver.

As a result of the accident, one serviceman of the Estonian Defense Forces was injured and was taken to the hospital for examination.

Other passengers injured in the accident are servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine," the Estonian military department said in a statement.

The Latvian publication Delfi specified that the accident occurred under difficult weather conditions during snowfall.

On the A1 highway (Via Baltica), a Scania passenger bus traveling from Tallinn to Riga collided with a truck with Estonian license plates.

The accident occurred approximately 2 kilometers from the border with Estonia.

Latvian rescuers and medics were assisted by Estonian colleagues. 

The second bus driver, who was hospitalized with a broken leg, said that an oncoming truck lost control and crashed into the bus on the driver's side. 

We will remind, earlier the Minister of Defense Oleksiy Reznikov announced that the training programs for the Ukrainian military in Estonia will continue.
