The Uttar Pradesh state (Uttar Pradesh) recently asked the police to submit marijuana as evidence during a trial, but the police said that 500 kilograms of marijuana were eaten by rats during storage.

According to comprehensive foreign media reports, the police in Mathura County, Uttar Pradesh seized a batch of 581 kilograms of marijuana leaves worth about 6 million rupees (about NT$2.27 million) two years ago, and put them in two police stations for preservation.

Judge Sanjay Chaudhary of the Uttar Pradesh Court asked the police to show the marijuana seized as evidence, but the police were "unable to produce evidence" saying 500kg of marijuana leaves had been eaten by rats.

"Rats are small animals, they're not afraid of the police, so it's very difficult to protect the marijuana from them," Chaudhari said.

Jodhari said afterwards that the marijuana seized by the Mathura County (Mathura County) police has the risk of being eaten by rats, and the rat problem is hard to prevent, and the police do not have the relevant knowledge to deal with the rat problem.

The only way to protect marijuana from rats is to sell it to research labs or pharmaceutical companies and donate the proceeds to the government, Chaodhari said.
