This year, on November 26, Ukraine commemorates the 90th anniversary of the

Holodomor

of 1932-1933, which was caused by the bloody Stalinist regime.

Today, this day has a special and painful meaning for every Ukrainian, because, after so many years after the genocide, the Russian invaders are again trying to destroy the Ukrainian nation.

The memory of the Holodomor victims and stars of Ukrainian show business were honored.

The families of many celebrities also had to survive torture and terrible hunger in Ukraine.

Tina Karol

On her website, the artist shared shocking data about the number of people killed in 1932-1933.

About 10.5 million Ukrainians of various ages died then.

"Remembrance Day for the victims of the Holodomor 1932-1933. Place: Ukraine. Deaths: 4 - 10.5 million. War 2022 - victory! We will not give it to anyone," Tina wrote.

Olya Tsybulska

The singer recalled the words of her great-grandmother, who was afraid all her life that war and famine would come to our country again.

"We remember everyone who was taken away by the Holodomor. My great-grandmother Motrya always said: 'If only there was no famine and no war. I bow to everyone who is stopping evil on our land today," wrote Tsybulska.

Sviatoslav VAKARCHUK

The leader of the "Ocean Elsa" band also shared on his page a publication in memory of those whose lives were taken by the terrible hunger.

"The day of remembrance of the victims of the Holodomor. We remember who and why killed millions of Ukrainians with hunger then. Their descendants today are trying to destroy us with cold and rockets. It's time to stop them. Forever," the musician urged.

Jamala

Recently, the singer shared her song "Why do flowers have eyes" on Instagram, which became the soundtrack to the movie "The Guide".

.

Jamala admitted that these lines always remind her of the pain experienced by our people.

"Every time I listen to my Why do flowers have eyes, I remember the history of our people. I remember the stories of older people about how the authorities of Soviet Russia tortured our people for years by creating artificial mass hunger," Jamala said.

Nikita Dobrynin

The TV presenter reminded all his subscribers about the terrible methods the Soviet authorities resorted to - they took away bread, imposed fines and did not even allow even a broken ear of corn to be taken from the field.

"It's not funny, but again - Russia, Stalin, Yo*ana Rusna," Dobrynin added.

Natalka Denysenko

The consequences of the tragedy affected the actress's family.

She shared that her grandmother never wanted to remember those terrible times, but the Holodomor left a serious mark on the Denysenko family.

"Today is Holodomor Memorial Day... My grandmothers lived through those times and did not like to tell the terrible things that happened. But I know this story, which touched my family tree, personally. It is very painful," the star said.

Svetlana Tarabarova

On this day, Svitlana Tarabarova called on everyone to join the annual "light a candle" campaign and at 4:00 p.m. honor the memory of the victims with a moment of silence.

"The 90th anniversary of the Holodomor in Ukraine 1932-1933. We remember. And we fight so that the truth about the genocide of our people is not destroyed. On this day, light a candle on the windowsill - honor the memory of all those who died. Times change, and the methods are the same," Tarabarova wrote.

The performer also recalled how in her school years she could not understand how Ukrainians were able to forgive the Russians for the genocide and call each other "brotherly nations" for many years.

"There was a question in my head, then in the ninth grade... Why? Why did we forgive them and live next to them in "peace". Why? None of the adults answered. And now we are paying for this neighborhood again with our lives. Remember these shots every time when you feel like it's not time to learn your language. That "there are normal people there too" - normal people would go out on the streets | stop the "power", as they say. But being Ukrainian is hard as history shows. To be Ukrainian is to be a warrior. Who destroys pure evil," Svitlana said.

Hector Jimenez-Bravo

The chef from Colombia, who has been living in Ukraine for more than 10 years, also honored the 90th anniversary of the Holodomor.

"It is important to remember history and to know who really does not wish you well. You lived through terrible times, now we are fighting so that our children will never know them. The light will overcome the darkness," the cook writes.
