Fuel networks will most likely experience increased demand, but given the current volumes of oil product imports to Ukraine, there should not be a shortage of fuel.

This was reported to the Ministry of Economy, writes RBC-Ukraine.

As an example, the Ministry of Economy cites the number of cars.

Today, there are about 7 million cars in Ukraine, and each of them consumes 8 liters of fuel per 100 kilometers on average.

If the car drives 50-60 km per hour, the consumption is about 4-5 liters of fuel per hour.

At the same time, generators consume much less fuel: household generators consume less than 1 liter per hour, and industrial generators consume less fuel than a car.

According to statistics, over the past 5-6 years, about 500,000 generators have been brought to Ukraine.

At the same time, there are about 12 million households in the country.

This means that no more than 3-5% of households are equipped with generators

"Therefore, we can conclude: yes, fuel networks may experience increased demand, but, taking into account the current volume of oil product imports into Ukraine, there should not be a deficit," the Ministry of Economy suggests.

It is noted that the import of fuel to Ukraine in recent months amounted to:

  • in August - 709 thousand tons

  • in September - 780 thousand tons

  • in October - 660 thousand tons (demand was reduced).

It should be noted that in the spring of this year, when there was the greatest shortage of fuel, Ukraine imported: in March - 60 thousand tons, in April - 191 thousand tons, in May - 380 thousand tons of fuel.

As a reminder, two families, in particular, a 4-year-old child, suffered from carbon monoxide poisoning in the Kyiv region.

Another man died.
