On November 25, 2022, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, participated in the tripartite meeting of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Transport of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, and Turkey, held in Aktau, Kazakhstan.

The Georgian delegation also attended the meeting.

According to the information given to APA by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the main issue on the agenda of this conference, which was organized as a continuation of the first tripartite meeting of the ministers responsible for foreign affairs and transport of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Turkey held in Baku on June 27, 2022, is the region's transport, communication, there was a discussion of the work done in order to use its potential in transit and other directions and further expansion of the partnership.

During the discussions, attention was paid to the development of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (Middle Corridor) and freight transportation in this direction.

Speaking at the meeting, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, emphasized that the mentioned format is one of the important platforms for further expansion of partnership between these countries, which have a high level of fraternal and partnership relations.

It was stated that strengthening the cooperation of the mentioned countries in the field of transport and communications is of great importance in terms of prevention and reduction of risks and challenges at the regional level, in a situation where threats to global security, stability and economic development are increasing.

It was emphasized that the importance and prospects of the Zangezur corridor as a part of the Middle Corridor are great.

It was brought to attention that this corridor has the potential to further increase transport opportunities within the framework of the Trans-Caspian International East-West Middle Corridor.

It was noted that the opening of all communications in the region, including the Zangezur corridor, will serve the expansion of international transport links.

J. Bayramov informed the meeting participants about the current situation in the background of the new realities emerging in the region after the 44-day war, including efforts to advance the peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia.

He said that the end of the conflict created new opportunities to achieve long-term peace and stability in the region through the restoration of economic and communication relations.

The minister talked about the large-scale restoration and construction works carried out in the liberated areas, efforts to ensure the return of internally displaced persons to their homes.

It was pointed out that one of the biggest obstacles to the recovery and construction activities carried out by Azerbaijan in the post-conflict period is the existing mine threat.

In this regard, it was stated that the Armenian side continues to threaten Azerbaijan by burying new mines in the territories of Azerbaijan in the post-conflict period.

At the end of the tripartite meeting, the "2022-2027 Road Map" on the development and operation of the Middle Corridor Route passing through the territory of Turkey, Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan was signed in accordance with the Baku Declaration.
