Police has arrested the person who killed his wife by giving medicine.

A 23-year-old male nurse at a hospital in Maharashtra's Pune district allegedly killed his wife by giving her a lethal drug and tried to pass it off as suicide.

An officer of the Paud police station said on Wednesday that the accused Swapnil Sawant wanted to kill his wife because she was having an affair with a nurse.

This nurse was his colleague in a private hospital and he was planning to marry her.

Police have arrested the accused.

The official said Sawant had married the victim, Priyanka Kshetre, five months ago and the couple lived in a rented house at Kasar Amboli village in Mulshi tehsil.

On November 14, Sawant took his wife to the hospital in critical condition.

There the doctors declared Priyanka dead.

Inspector Manoj Yadav said, "An alleged suicide note signed by Priyanka was found and a case of domestic violence and abetment to suicide was registered against Sawant. However, during investigation it was found that Sawant had administered Vecuronium Bromide, Nitroglycerin injection and LOX 2." % had stolen some drugs and injections from the hospital where he used to work. He allegedly killed his wife by administering these drugs to her. We have registered a case against him under relevant provisions and further investigation is underway ."
