The Minister of Construction and Transport Professor Makame Mbarawa has said that the door of the Precision Air plane that crashed in Lake Victoria while trying to land in Bukoba was opened by a flight attendant helping passengers.

Giving a report on the investigation of the accident, Minister Mbarawa said that the fishermen arrived at the scene of the accident about five minutes after it happened and that their efforts to open the door increased the spirit of the attendant and passengers to open the door.

Mbarawa said the weather changed suddenly and the rescue boat was delayed because it was on patrol.

The report, according to the Minister responsible for transport, did not mention names.

"It is true that the door was opened by the flight attendant with the help of the passengers, however, according to the investigation report, the citizens who were engaged in fishing activities arrived at the accident site 5 minutes after the plane crashed," he said.
