The national private school union stated that it is normal for private middle schools to arrange tutoring classes on Saturdays. The private school union received complaints from private schools that the school still arranged classes on November 26, which affected the voting rights of staff and students, and deprived them of the right to vote. The National Private Schools Union pointed out that schools’ insistence on arranging courses and activities on polling day not only hinders staff and students from exercising their voting rights, but may also arouse controversy and even doubts about violating the law.

The national private school trade union stated that unless otherwise stipulated in the Constitution, Article 7 of the referendum law stipulates that citizens who have reached the age of 18 have the right to vote, and item 2 of point 4 of the key points for the implementation of academic guidance in senior high schools stipulates that schools must not vote on national holidays and official holidays. Tutoring classes will be implemented on the 1st, and Article 109 of the Election Act stipulates that attempts to obstruct voting will be subject to criminal penalties of up to 5 years.

The national private school trade union reminded all private schools to administer according to law, and to stop illegal classes on November 26 polling day, and called on all private schools across the country to stop arranging any courses and activities on polling day.
