North Korea today criticized Seoul's bid to impose additional sanctions on Pyongyang over its missile tests, saying the measures would increase the North's "hostility and anger", Reuters reported, citing the North Korean news agency KCTA.

South Korea's foreign ministry said on Tuesday it was considering its own sanctions against Pyongyang, with cyber sanctions among the measures being considered, should the North continue to advance toward a nuclear test.

Kim Jong-un's sister made accusations to the UN

Criticism in response was made by the powerful sister of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un - Kim Yo-chen - in a statement to the KCTA.

"If they think they can get out of the current dangerous situation through 'sanctions,' then they must be really idiots if they can't live in peace and tranquility," Kim Yo-chan said.

The US called on the UN Security Council to "unanimously" hold North Korea accountable for its missile tests and accused China and Russia of encouraging Pyongyang by blocking Security Council action.

"We once again warn the impudent and the foolish that desperate sanctions and pressure by the US and its South Korean puppets against the DPRK will increase our hostility and anger," Kim Yo-chen stressed.
