The Food Institute randomly sampled 5 shrimp roe samples from 5 Japanese restaurants.

Eight synthetic food colorings were analyzed: Asorubine/Carmoisin, Brilliant Blue FCF, Erythrocin, Fast Green FC. F, Indigotine, Ponzo 4 R, Sunset Yellow FCF and Tartrazine. Results showed that the use of Ponzo 4 R (red) Sunset Yellow A was found. FCF (yellow) in shrimp roe samples and two samples with Sunset Yellow FCF exceeding the standard.

According to Thai standards, the use of Sunset Yellow FCF color in fish roe is not more than 300 mg/kg.

It is recommended that you eat but do not eat too much for your body's safety.
