A six-year-old boy who spent two days under rubble after the 5.6-magnitude earthquake in Indonesia has been rescued.

The quake devastated an area in West Java province and killed at least 268 people, local authorities said today, as quoted by DPA.

Little Azka was pulled alive from under the rubble of a house in the village of Nagrek, Chianjur District.

It happened 40 hours after Monday's quake, said firefighter Aman Riyanto, who was involved in the rescue.

The child was breathing and received immediate medical attention.

Most of those killed in the disaster were children who were attending after-school religious classes at mosques.

According to the National Disaster Management Agency, about 150 people are still missing in Chianjur.

Rescue teams are focusing for the next three days on searching for missing people.

The earthquake caused injuries to more than a thousand people, and 58 thousand were evacuated.

The tremor caused landslides of earth masses, which buried houses and people.

Over 2,300 residential and other buildings are lined up, many of them razed to the ground.
