will continue to support Ukraine both with weapons and in other ways, and will also make sure that German equipment can serve for a long time.

This was stated by the Minister of Defense of the Federal Republic of Germany, Christine Lambrecht, at an event organized by the Federal Academy of Security Policy on November 22, Ukrinform reports.

"We support Ukraine in its right to self-defense, we supply it with weapons, although we have not supplied weapons to crisis regions for decades, since February 24, in fact, there has been a change in state policy... We have to make sure that Ukraine has what it needs in the coming months," she said Lambrecht, adding that one should not have vain expectations for a quick end to the war.

The minister noted that the current task is to ensure the long-term use of the transferred equipment, be it self-propelled guns, anti-aircraft guns, light infantry fighting vehicles, etc.

"It is important that what was transferred should be used for a long time... We thought everything through so that there would be no problems," the politician emphasized.

Kristine Lambrecht assured that the recently established repair center in Slovakia was provided with the necessary spare parts, so that it would be possible to repair equipment not far from the territory of Ukraine.

The head of the Ministry of Defense recalled her visit to Odesa, where she saw with her own eyes the effectiveness of the use of German equipment by the Armed Forces.

She also noted that the next three Iris-T air defense systems, which are not yet in service even with the Bundeswehr, will be handed over to Ukraine next year.

It is important, Lambrecht emphasized, that the transfer of all equipment takes place in coordination with the allies.

In this context, she thanked the USA for starting the Rammstein format.

The head of the German defense department named plans to train 5,000 Ukrainian soldiers in Germany by the summer of next year as important components, but also the fact that Germany accepted almost one million Ukrainian refugees, supplies of winter packages for the armed forces, generators, etc.

Lambrecht also touched on the topic of increasing her country's responsibility in NATO.

She assured commitment to the goal of reaching the level of defense spending to 2% of GDP, as decided at the NATO summit in 2014, but admitted that Germany will be able to do this only in five years.

It will be recalled that the Minister of Defense of Germany, Christine Lambrecht, said that

Germany will transfer to Ukraine a large amount of previously promised military equipment by the end of the year
