The European Commission has published a proposal to establish a new maximum price for gas.

It is about 275 euros per MWh.

The Financial Times writes about it.

As noted, the European Commission has set a maximum gas price of 275 euros per MWh.

This is double the current market value.

The proposal itself provides for the establishment of a price limit for gas under contracts for a month ahead.

The wholesale price will be held above EUR 275 for two weeks, and if the gap between natural gas and LNG prices exceeds EUR 58 for 10 trading days.

"This is not a 'silver bullet' that will lower gas prices, but it is a powerful tool that we can use when needed, complementing our more structural efforts to control prices," EU Energy Commissioner Kadri Simson stressed.

This level of the gas price is more than twice as high as the current level of 120 euros per MWh.

However, in the summer, gas prices were even higher - in some places more than 300 euros.

We will remind that Norway will provide Ukraine with a grant of almost 200 million euros for additional purchases.

Norwegian funds will be directed to "Naftogaz" through a support mechanism from the EBRD, which also allocates 300 million euros for relevant gas purchases.
