In Maharashtra, politics has intensified due to a statement by Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari on Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.

A petition has been filed in the Bombay High Court to remove Koshyari from the post of Governor.

Advocate Nitin Satpute has filed this petition on behalf of petitioner Deepak Dilip Jagdev.

It has been said in this that the present Governor has insulted Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Savitribai Phule, Jyotiba Phule.

People's sentiments have been hurt.

In the petition, impeachment proceedings have been sought under Articles 61 and 156 of the Constitution.

During a program in Aurangabad, Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari had said that Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj was a symbol of the "olden days".

Due to this comment of Koshyari, political tussle continues in Maharashtra.

Congress leader and former chief minister Ashok Chavan said on Tuesday that a new governor should be appointed for Maharashtra.

Bhagat Singh Koshyari should be removed from his post for commenting on Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.

Chavan was speaking to reporters after a protest by Congress workers against the governor in Nanded.

Activists of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), Congress, Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) and other organizations are protesting demanding Koshyari's removal from the post.

Chavan claimed that this was not the first time the governor had made such a controversial statement, and said it was unbecoming of a person holding a constitutional post to make such remarks.

The Congress leader said Koshyari should be transferred out of Maharashtra and a new governor should be appointed for the state.

Chavan said that any kind of insult towards Maharashtra will not be tolerated.

Meanwhile, the Aurangabad city and district units of the Congress staged a demonstration at Kranti Chowk in the city, demanding that the governor be recalled by the President.

District Congress president and former MLA Kalyan Kale said, "Koshyari should be called back by the President (Draupadi Murmu).
