Great Britain handed over to Ukraine an advanced model of a high-tech missile with a Brimstone laser homing system, the range of which is twice as long as the previous version.

The Telegraph writes about it.

Brimstone 2 missiles are usually launched from fighter jets, but Ukrainian forces use modified trucks as a launch platform.

The flight distance after launching from an airplane is 60 km, when launching from ground forms - 12 km.

The cost of one missile is estimated at 175,000 pounds, they are designed mainly to hit ground targets, including vehicles moving at high speed.

As the BBC explains, Brimstone can independently select more suitable targets from a pre-programmed list using a high-precision radar, while not hitting civilian vehicles or less important enemy military equipment.

Laser guidance and high accuracy make it possible to launch missiles in densely populated areas, which reduces the probability of casualties among the civilian population.

Earlier, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak during his visit to Kyiv announced the allocation of another package of military aid to Ukraine in the amount of 50 million pounds, The Telegraph reminds.

British aid in 2022 has already exceeded 3 billion pounds.
