The launch of the Space Launch System (SLS) rocket that carried the spacecraft into near-Earth space took place from the Cape Canaveral Spaceport in Florida on November 16, after several delays due to technical problems and bad weather.

The journey to the Moon lasted about a week, now "Orion" should spend about three more weeks in flight, after which it is scheduled to return to Earth.

The lunar program "Artemis-1" was presented to the public for the first time in 2020.

Its purpose is the return of astronauts to the Moon half a century after the last mission called "Apollo", as well as the construction of a lunar station and preparation of conditions for possible colonization of the Moon in the future.

In 2024, NASA plans to send four astronauts to the Moon as part of the Artemis-2 mission.

The piloted ship will have to fly around the Earth's satellite, after which it will be driven in the Pacific Ocean.

As part of the Artemis-3 mission, scheduled for 2025, American astronauts will have to land on the surface of the Moon again.
