World Children's Day is

celebrated on November 20

.

This holiday was introduced by the UN.

Its main goal is to create comfortable conditions for the development of children, to involve them in a full-fledged social life.

After all, it has been proven that if a child spends the first years of his life well, he grows up confident in himself and his abilities.

This day was founded in 1954 in order for all countries to rally together for the welfare of children and adolescents.

This date was chosen because it was on November 20, 1959 that the UN General Assembly adopted the Convention on the Rights of the Child.

An interesting fact

.

Our forefathers often called this day "Fedot the ice-maker" and said "Saint Fedot leads the ice".

The holy martyr Fedot lived in the second half of the 3rd century in Ankyra.

He was the owner of a hotel and an inn, which was how he earned his living.

Fedot was distinguished by deep faith in God, therefore he adhered to chastity and purity, tried to cultivate self-restraint.

Constantly prayed and fasted.

Fedot also tried with his actions and words to convert sinners to righteousness, and pagans to Christ.

At that time, the emperor Diocletian began the persecution of Christians, so many fled from the city, leaving their homes and all their property.

Fedot always helped Christians, gave them shelter in his hotel.

He not only fed them, but also sheltered those who were persecuted by the pagans.

Fedot also gave supplies to churches so that the Divine Liturgy could be held there.

He also secretly came to prisons to Christians and talked with the convicts.

When all the churches in Ankyra were destroyed, the Divine Liturgy began to be held in Fedota's hotel.

At that time, many women were martyred for Christ.

One of them was Aunt Fedota - Saint Tekusa.

After the death of Tecus, Fedota appeared in a dream and asked to bury her according to Christian customs.

Phaedo, together with his friend Polychronius, went to the lake, where they drowned the martyrs.

They took out their bodies and buried them.

Soon Polychronius was captured.

He could not stand the torture and pointed to Fedot, who was detained and tortured by cutting off his head.
