In response to North Korea's test of an intercontinental ballistic missile, G7 foreign ministers also called on the United Nations Security Council to take "significant measures" in response.

The intercontinental ballistic missile launched by North Korea on the 18th flew at an altitude of about 6,100 kilometers and a distance of about 1,000 kilometers, and fell into Japan's Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) after flying for about 69 minutes.

According to Yonhap News Agency, Rodong Sinmun, the official newspaper of North Korea’s Workers’ Party, published an article on the 20th, celebrating the successful test launch of the Hwasong-17 intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM), claiming to have the world’s number one intercontinental ballistic missile, and saying that as long as the United States does not Fundamentally change the hostile policy and nuclear threat to North Korea, and North Korea will never back down on the road to strengthening its nuclear power.

The report also stated that in order to protect the bright smiles and beautiful dreams of the next generation, it will continue to strengthen and improve the quality of nuclear weapons.

According to foreign media reports, in response to North Korea's ICBM test, the foreign ministers of the G7 countries including the United States, Japan, Canada, Germany, Britain, France and Italy also pointed out that North Korea's move requires a consistent and strong international community. Responding, and criticizing North Korea's ballistic missile test as a "reckless act" and another flagrant violation of UN resolutions.

He also pointed out that North Korea's series of illegal ballistic missile tests "posed a serious threat to regional and international peace and security" and called on the UN Security Council to take "significant measures" in response.

The report mentioned that at the request of the United States, the UN Security Council will hold a meeting on 21 to discuss the North Korean issue. This is also the sixth time that the UN Security Council has held a public meeting on North Korea's provocations this year.

South Korean diplomatic sources also revealed that although South Korea is not a permanent member of the Security Council, it will participate in the meeting as a stakeholder.

South Korea is expected to reiterate at the meeting that the international community should send a stern warning message over North Korea's repeated violations of Security Council resolutions.
