The department did not clarify who exactly received Ukrainian visas and how many Russians were refused visas.

A visa regime has been introduced for Russian citizens in Ukraine since July 1.

Russians can issue classic paid visas with a standard price and an authorized stay in Ukraine of up to 90 days.

Those citizens of Russia who are in third countries can apply for a visa at Ukrainian embassies or consulates.

In early November, Ukraine also suspended the reception and consideration of applications from citizens of the Russian Federation who wish to immigrate to Ukraine or obtain a residence permit in the country.

The ban applies to those Russian citizens who do not have relatives in Ukraine or are not employed in Ukrainian companies and organizations.

These restrictions do not apply to citizens of the Russian Federation who: are married to a citizen of Ukraine, are children or parents of citizens of Ukraine, are blood relatives of citizens of Ukraine, have served in the Ukrainian Armed Forces for three or more years, have arrived in Ukraine for employment with a signed contract.
