The largest apartment complex in Pomorie - "Sunset Resort" closed and laid off nearly 500 people.

The reason is that on October 4, the electricity to the complex was cut off due to an unpaid bill of BGN 800,000.

Disputes between the owners of the complex and the apartment owners have been going on for nearly 10 years.

This situation was reached after the owners of the apartments, most of them Irish citizens, refused to pay a maintenance fee for the common areas and owed an amount exceeding BGN 1,800,000.

Two years ago, a scandal broke out between the owners and the owners of apartments due to unresolved accounts.

Hoteliers in Balchik are facing bankruptcy, they did not receive the aid for Ukrainian refugees

MEP Clare Daly in a resolution of the European Parliament pointed to this case as a problem with the Rule of Law in Bulgaria.

Why the Irish refuse to pay, explains condominium manager Manol Manolov.

"They are referring to Article 51 of the Condominium Management Act, which states that if they don't stay for 30 days they don't owe a fee. In reality, the complex is maintained all year round, electricity and water are paid every month. It doesn't matter who comes just for 5 months and things should be differentiated. It would be good if the law changes in this direction."

The mayor of Pomorie, Ivan Alexiev, commented

that the situation will have a particularly negative effect on the development of tourism in Pomorie, and especially on the "St. George" quarter.

"450-500 people have already been released as far as I know. This is a consequence of the inadequate government policy in the field of tourism. How could this Ministry of Tourism not make a law to separate the parts in the hotels that are sold. Currently we see scandals - they can't understand about the electricity, they can't understand about the water, about the common areas", Ivan Alexiev also said.

The complex is closing for an indefinite period, it will certainly not work next year.
