The second convoy of French military equipment, consisting of a Leclerc tank company, arrived last night by rail to Voila station in Brasov county, the defense ministry said, quoted by Agerpress.

The military equipment entered the country on Monday through the Kurtich border crossing in the western county of Arad (on the border with Hungary) and is intended to complement the military-technical equipment of the NATO Battle Group Forward Presence (BGFP) located in Cincu base in Brasov district, the quoted source said.

The Ministry of Defense recalls that the NATO Battle Group (BGFP) in Romania was formed in May through the transformation of multinational allied elements within the NATO Response Force deployed in the country.

At the suggestion of France, which assumed the role of framework country, the French battalion deployed in Romania, considered the blade of NATO's Very High Response Force (VJTF), formed the BGFP on Romanian territory, integrating on a rotational basis forces of Belgium and the Netherlands .

The battle group contributes to strengthening Romania's military cooperation with France and, accordingly, to strengthening the security of the Euro-Atlantic space in the Eastern flank.

Cooperation with strategic partners and the existence on the territory of the country of important combat structures help to improve the defense and deterrence capacity in the context of the war in Ukraine and the crisis in the Black Sea region, the announcement noted.
