TPP "ConturGlobal Maritsa East 3" is in full operational readiness to meet the needs of domestic consumers and businesses in the upcoming winter months.

This was announced by the press center of the company.

During the period with low temperatures, the country's power system is more heavily loaded due to the high consumption of electricity for heating, and the plant has a key role in providing the necessary electricity.  

From the beginning of 2022 until the end of October, the "ConturGlobal Maritsa-Iztok 3" TPP has provided over 11.8 percent of the total electricity produced in the country, which is equal to the average consumption of almost 1,300,000 Bulgarian households.

"We are prepared to work at full capacity in the autumn-winter period and to contribute to the provision of the necessary electricity for Bulgarian households and businesses on cold days. In the summer, we carried out a comprehensive preventive maintenance of the four power units of the plant, we also have the necessary stocks of lignite coal from "Mini Maritsa-East". As one of the largest production facilities in Bulgaria, which operates entirely with local resources, our power plant is a key element of the country's electricity system," said Alexander Zhelev, chief engineer of KonturGlobal Maritsa East 3 TPP ". 

"ConturGlobal Maritsa Iztok 3" thermal power station is among the plants in the country that can change their mode of operation from minimum to maximum power multiple times during the day - flexibility important for the stable operation of the electricity system. 

At the end of August, the KonturGlobal Maritsa Iztok 3 TPP completed the annual maintenance of its four power units, BTA reported.

The plant fully meets the requirements of European legislation for environmental protection and safety.

After the last modernization, completed in August 2021, the specialized desulphurization installations provide an even higher level of flue gas purification.

For 12 years, it has successfully defended its certifications according to the international standards for environmental management and health and safety at work, ISO 14000:2015 and ISO 45001:2018 (previously - OHSAS 18001:2007).
