A border policeman lost his life after being shot by Turkish shepherds waiting to rob migrants, on the border with our southern neighbor. When there is illegal human trafficking on a huge scale, the state must know what it wants to do.

In the last year and a half, all successive Bulgarian governments did not deal with this problem.

The border was a broken yard.

Illegal migrants cut wherever they wanted, messages to the media were not submitted and the public learned that the Bulgarian border was pierced like Swiss cheese when 60 people were arrested in Botevgrad.

The facts that these groups pass through the Serbian border are hidden.

This was stated by the former Minister of Defense Krasimir Karakachanov

Krasimir Donchev Karakachanov is the Deputy Prime Minister for Public Order and Security on the air of "Denya ON AIR".

According to him, the politicians in Bulgaria have no will to deal with this problem, which is why it continues to exist.

"This problem has existed in Bulgaria since 2014-2015. To this day, the Bulgarian governments are changing their vision of how they will deal with the problem. None of them has decided to resolve the issue according to the law in Bulgaria - with radical measures such as strength," emphasized Karakachanov.

Is the Bulgarian border a broken yard?

According to him, as long as Bulgaria does not have a clear vision of how illegal migrants will be treated and there are no clear orders to the "Border Police", tragic incidents occur.

"Europe is not infinite. When they fill up Western Europe, they will go to Central, then they will also come to Bulgaria. It is important to define our concept - do we want people to come to our country without inviting them", stated Karakachanov.

The former Minister of Defense is of the opinion that sending police officers from all over Bulgaria along the border is a bad practice, as they are not prepared and lack equipment.

"The special forces to date are well prepared, because during my time a project was implemented to acquire new armored vehicles, they also have 100 vehicles. In the last year and 7 months, the politicians' concept was to pretend that there is no illegal migration ", he thinks.

Karakachanov was categorical that crossing the border illegally is a crime for which "prison is imposed, not a hotel".

"The border should be reinforced with trained people. Those formations of the army should be sent that are trained for such actions, and not cut off the numbers. The status of border police should be restored, which should be local people. Drones are needed and gyroscopes for aerial surveillance," suggested the former minister.

Karakachanov also commented on the disappearance of 12-year-old Alexander from Pernik.

"This child can't be on the street for 4 days. Maybe it's a case of kidnapping or something else. The one who was supposed to take care of him is responsible for his disappearance," summed up the former defense minister.
