The European Union remains united in its support for Ukraine, the European High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell said today

The EU will be with Ukraine until the Ukrainian victory and the Ukrainians themselves will determine what victory is for them, Borel added.

He clarified that the EU and the Commonwealth countries have so far provided Kyiv with military aid for at least eight billion euros.

This aid is 45 percent of the amount of funds provided by the US, the high representative specified.

Borel announced that by the end of the month, the training mission for at least 15,000 Ukrainian fighters is expected to begin work.

According to him, the trainings will take place in several EU countries.

EU: Ukraine decides whether to negotiate with Russia or not

We will continue with the international isolation of Russia, as well as with restrictive measures.

We are ready to continue to strengthen sanctions and pursue the intervention of other countries, especially those that provide weapons and military support (to Russia) - Iran and Belarus, Borel added.

We have never claimed that sanctions will solve the war, but they add to the difficulties of the Russian military.

Russia suffers huge losses on the battlefield.

The sanctions are undermining Russia's ability to wage a war on terror against Ukrainians, Borrell concluded.

According to him, Russian President Vladimir Putin cannot win the war in Ukraine, nor can he defeat the Ukrainian army.

He is trying to compensate for this military failure by causing suffering to Ukrainians, Borel said.
