According to the calculations of the United Nations (UN), on November 15, the number of the planet's population should overcome the milestone of eight billion people.

A population increase of 1 billion occurred in just eleven years, the shortest period in the history of the Earth.

This was reported by iDnes with reference to the UN report "World Population Prospects for 2022".

According to UN estimates, there are now slightly more men on the planet than women - 50.3 percent versus 49.7 percent.

However, by 2050, the ratio of men and women on the planet should be the same.

The UN predicts that the rate of overall population growth will slow down — in 15 years, in 2037, there will be 9 billion people on the planet.

The next billion will appear around 2050.

According to UN estimates, the largest number that the global population can grow to is 11 billion, which could live on the planet around 2100.

However, some studies expect the world's population to peak earlier.

For example, according to the Institute for Health Measurement and Evaluation (IHME) at the University of Washington, the largest number of people on Earth (9.7 billion) may be in 2064, and then - will decrease.

50 years ago, annual population growth was two percent (last time over two percent in 1972).

In 2020, it was 1.05 percent, and around 2050, the growth rate may drop to around 0.5 percent.

We will remind you that the warming of the planet and the rise of the ocean level are accelerating, the last eight years have been the warmest in the entire history of observations, and nothing will stop the melting of the glaciers.
