From 200 to 370 loaves of bread are baked every day by a bakery in Zolotonosh, Cherkasy region.

All this stuff is given to people for free.

And there they mold 500 pies with apples, cherries, potatoes and cabbage, which are then eaten by Ukrainian fighters.

How Korysna Konditorska worked in the city and who can get free pastries there, read in the TSN.ua article.

A social bakery opened in the city even before the start of a full-scale war, in November 2021.

She works on the basis of the Zolotonsky Center for the provision of social services.

Director of the Center Lyudmila Nelina told how the idea was brought to life: "From the very beginning, this project had the idea of co-financing, that is, we only asked donors for equipment, and at the expense of local budget funds - repairs, electricity, hoods. We implemented this project with a charitable by the "Influence" organization.

Social workers together with benefactors wanted to open more than just a confectionery.

This project called "Bakery, useful confectionery" envisaged three main areas of work: first of all, they produced high-quality bread products at low prices, which were initially sold to the residents of the community at cost price.

The second idea was to attract people with disabilities to the bakery so that they could realize themselves, acquire new skills and undergo rehabilitation.

Also, this place became a workshop, where children could take part in workshops on making and painting gingerbread, as well as baking buns.

Also, the confectionary intended to make healthy products without gluten and sugar for people with disabilities who must follow a special diet.

However, the war made its adjustments.

The bakery no longer deals with children.

In March, it suspended its work due to a shortage of ingredients, but later resumed it.

"We had a lot of children and young people, but after the war the situation changed a little, now we don't have the opportunity for this. We bake a lot of bread and pies, but it's not the children who help us anymore, we involve the parents of these children and a little young people from disability. We have a cook, a professional baker and a cook's assistant on staff," Lyudmila Nelina says.

Every day, the bakery bakes from 200 to 370 loaves of bread, but they are no longer sold, as before the full-scale war, but distributed free of charge.

"The bakery today makes social products, and before the war we baked and sold bread at a social price, at cost price, because we are a non-profit organization. It cost 9-10 hryvnias, when in our community the price was 15-17 hryvnias. We baked high-quality bread and rye, and we also had bread of the first and second grade, which was called "Family", - says the director of the Center.

Today, social workers distribute bread for free to low-income residents of the community, pensioners and immigrants.

"That is, all families of displaced persons who are registered in our community place an order. We have a schedule, we have determined their needs. For example, each family member has the right to receive one loaf of bread once a week. Families are different , starting from two people and up to seven. Our pensioners also receive bread. In addition, for residents of our community with reduced motor activity, who are served by our social workers, they deliver them to their homes," says Lyudmila Nelina.

Also, "Korysnaya Konditorska" manufactures energy bars from dried fruits, honey, nuts and flakes for Ukrainian soldiers.

They also bake pies for the Ukrainian military there and make preparations for the winter.

"Social workers bring us apples. We prepare apple and cherry jam for the winter. Residents bring and donate vegetables to us. And we also bake pies for the military, they can also be made with potatoes and cabbage. Yesterday there were 500 pies," - Lyudmila Nelina notes.

In addition, the Center also has a social dining room, where city residents come and receive free hot lunches once a day.
