After another incident with a drunk and drugged driver, the chief prosecutor Ivan Geshev

He graduated from law school in once again called for legislative changes to allow prosecutors to impound the vehicles of drunk and drugged drivers and to specify the criminal charges for intentionally causing death and bodily harm by such perpetrators.

The statement of the number one accuser came after the accident near Buzovgrad, in which a drunk driver hit a 14-year-old boy with a bicycle waiting at the roadside banquet.

The child's life is in danger.

A driver ran over a child and ran away

"Another child was swept away by yet another, probably drunk and drugged, driver.

The child is fighting for his life, in serious condition.

And the driver didn't help.

He got away. What else needs to happen for us to understand that we need to stop getting hurt and killed on the road?

What are we waiting for to stop the war on the road?

Its victims are as many as in a local military conflict.

And logically, we are leaders in the EU in this black statistic.

The Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Bulgaria put the problem before the National Assembly two years ago.

We also proposed solutions — confiscation of motor vehicles driven by drunk or drugged drivers.

We also proposed to specify the criminal compositions for intentionally causing death and bodily harm by such perpetrators.

There are a number of other possible solutions.

Apparently, death on Bulgaria's roads is not a priority.

It was important to close the specialized court and prosecutor's office within days.

Because we are perhaps the only country in the EU where there is no organized crime.

This rush, which is likely to benefit crime, is understandable.

But it is inexplicable that there is no hurry when people die on our roads every day.

Not only politicians and institutions, but all of us as a society must be active.

Because every life is priceless, and for years the necessary things have not been done.

This is the life of each one of us, of our relatives, of our children", commented Ivan Geshev
