To strengthen its defense, the Russian Federation transferred half a thousand Syrian fighters to Ukraine.

This is reported by Middle Easte.

Several hundred Syrians were sent to eastern Ukraine after studying in Russia.

Initially, they will be used for mainly non-combat tasks, generally entrusting them with the protection of facilities in Luhansk and Donetsk.

According to the sources, the fighters were recruited mainly from pro-Syrian government units that were supported, trained and directed by Russia in the fight against opposition forces and the Islamic State group.

These include the 25th Special Forces Division, known as the Tiger Force, the Fifth Corps, and the al-Quds Left, a militia made up mostly of Palestinian Syrians.

It is reported that Russia has recruited Syrians through Wagner PMC.

In March, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu told a UN Security Council meeting that Moscow had received more than 16,000 requests from people in the Middle East to help fight in Ukraine.

"Syrians do not take part in real hostilities, they mainly function as logistical support near the front line," a Syrian government official told the newspaper.

He added that the main task of the Syrian fighters is to ensure the security and protection of the areas managed by PMC "Wagner" and other military contractors in Luhansk and Donetsk, but they can be sent to the front to conduct combat operations if an extraordinary or urgent need arises.

There are already reports of losses of Syrians in eastern Ukraine.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said this month that nine fighters from the Quds Force and the Tiger Forces had been killed in Ukraine since September.

It is also noted that 2,000 Syrian fighters are participating in the defense of territories occupied by Russia in Kherson and Donetsk.

However, a Syrian government official said the Syrian death toll was much higher than reported, with at least 50 killed in the Ukrainian bombing.

It will be recalled that Russia began to recruit Afghan servicemen, who were trained by the USA before the arrival of the Taliban, for the war in Ukraine.

Some former special forces do not accept the offer of the Russian Federation, because they consider the Russian Federation an enemy due to the invasion of the Soviet Union in Afghanistan and the support of the Taliban by the Russian Federation.
