In the gang rape and murder case of a 19-year-old girl in Chhawla, the national capital, the victim's family has demanded protection from the Delhi Police.

Ravi Kumar, Rahul and Vinod were convicted under various charges of kidnapping, rape and murder in the Chhawla rape-murder case.

On 7 April 2022, the Supreme Court had reserved the verdict on the death of the three convicts.

The Supreme Court had to decide whether to uphold the death sentence of all three.

A bench of Justice Uday Umesh Lalit, Justice S Ravindra Bhat and Justice Bela M Trivedi had reserved the decision after hearing all the parties.

However, the Delhi Police had opposed the application to reduce the death sentence.

The police said that this crime has happened not only with the victim but with the whole society.

No concession can be given to the guilty, as they have committed such a heinous crime.

The culprits not only gang-raped the girl but also insulted her dead body.

Delhi's Dwarka court had in February 2014 convicted three men for the rape and murder of a 19-year-old girl in 2012 and sentenced them to death.

The mutilated body of the victim was found in a field in Haryana's Rewari.

He was mercilessly attacked with car tools and other things.


Ravi Kumar, Rahul and Vinod were convicted under various charges of kidnapping, rape and murder.

On 26 August 2014, the Delhi High Court confirmed the death sentence, saying they were "hunters", roaming the streets and "looking for prey".

The three convicts challenged the order of the Delhi High Court in the Supreme Court.
