Earlier, US Secretary of Defense Austin has revealed that the first batch of NASAMS air defense systems, a total of 2 sets, will be transferred to Ukraine in early November as expected, and the Ukrainian army is currently receiving relevant training on how to operate NASAMS.

At the end of August, the United States announced a new wave of military aid to Ukraine with a scale of nearly 3 billion U.S. dollars, including 6 sets of NASAMS, and later two more sets, for a total of 8 sets of aid to Ukraine.

NASAMS will be the first advanced medium- and long-range air defense missile system Ukraine has acquired.

Previously, Ukraine's only medium- and long-range air defense system was the old Soviet-era S-300, and beyond that, all systems offered by the West were short-range man-portable air defense missiles.

The Ukrainian Air Force believes that NASAMS is the best solution to the problem of air defense.

The NASAMS system is jointly built by Raytheon Company of the United States and Kongsberg Company of Norway. It is based on the Raytheon MPQ-64 "Sentry" radar and is equipped with the ground-launched version of the AIM-120 air-to-air missile. The maximum interception range can reach 25 kilometers. Equipped with several types of missiles such as "Stinger" and "Sidewinder", it can defend against deadly threats such as Russian fighter jets and cruise missiles.

Since its inception, NASAMS has been adopted by 12 countries around the world. Since 2005, the United States has been deployed in Washington, D.C., guarding the airspace of the White House all-weather, and has experienced the inauguration and State of the Union speeches of 4 presidents.
