Bengaluru Police has registered a case against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and some other party leaders following a complaint filed by MRT Music label for alleged unauthorized use of music from Kannada film KGF Chapter 2 during Bharat Jodo Yatra.

The complaint alleged that the Congress party had posted two videos with songs from the film without permission in violation of the Copyright Act during the Bharat Jodo Yatra.

An FIR has been registered against Congress's Rahul Gandhi, Jairam Ramesh, Supriya at Yeshwantpur police station under the provisions of Copyright Act, Information Technology Act, Indian Penal Code.

The complaint said, "The above illegal action of the accused is an offense under section 63 of the Copying Act. It is also a serious offense that a false electronic record has been made with the intention of presenting it as genuine and thereby making public is being deceived."

Every copyrighted material of the complainant has been illegally stored, hosted, downloaded, sideloaded, uploaded and thereby made infringing copy of the sound recording and audio-visual content in accordance with the Copyright Act, 1957.

BJP leader Amit Malviya took a dig at the Congress and said that the party picked up songs from the film for Bharat Jodo Yatra without the firm's permission.

Congress has been sued once again for illegally using Kannada actor Akhil Iyer's picture in its campaign.

This time the lawsuit has been filed by MRT Music, which owns the popular music label of KGF 2.
