Despite the fact that Bakhmut in the Donetsk region is almost on the front line and is under constant shelling, about 10,000 residents still remain in the city.

How the city survives, reports "FREEDOM".

People are hiding from shelling in basements and storage rooms.

They are forced to live without electricity, heating, gas, and communication.

Volunteers bring the most necessary things to Bakhmut.

There are no bakeries in the city.

The locals were left without means of livelihood and survive thanks to the humanitarian.

"A big car arrives, and we try to distribute everything.

It remains for the next day - we give it the next day.

We distribute around the city, deliver wherever we can get to.

May God give health to that Kostiantynivka (city in the Donetsk region, — ed.) who brings us bread," says volunteer Inna.

Among those who remained in the city, there are also children.

"There are a lot of children.

There are small children.

The city is destroyed.

All schools were destroyed: 12 schools — and all of them were broken," says Anatoliy, a resident of Bakhmut.

Zabakhmutka is a micro-district of Bakhmut, which was the most affected by shelling.

It was from there on a bicycle that Anatoliy, despite the shelling, came to pick up the humanitarian.

"The bridges have been destroyed. The bars have been put in place. In general, we pass if we can. Sometimes we don't. Recently, for three days we were approaching and couldn't pass - the bars were removed," says the man.

According to him, there is no one to hide the townspeople who died from Russian shelling, so the neighbors do it themselves in the gardens.

"There are already corpses in the cities.

Recently, a week ago, a woman was killed.

There is no one to hide.

We hide it ourselves," he says.

Journalist Andrii Tsaplienko published creepy footage from the dilapidated Bakhmut.

The most difficult direction on the front

President Zelensky regularly notes the Bakhmut area as one of the most difficult.

The president said that the command of the Russian Federation has been driving people there to their death

day after day for months  .

According to him, the city has become an advanced front and there are practically no surviving houses left in it.

Artillery duels there do not cease almost 24 hours a day, but the Armed Forces of Ukraine are on the defensive.

The Brigadier General of the 93rd Brigade, talking about the tactics of the invaders near Bakhmut, said that the Russian command itself calls its soldiers "disposable".

In particular, units of the private military company "Wagner" are trying to storm the city, including prisoners recently recruited from Russian prisons.

The head of the Bakhmut city military administration, Oleksiy Reva, said that the situation in Bakhmut is so difficult that it is impossible to identify the dead and sort out the rubble.

The Russians also use prohibited weapons to shell the city.

Recently, they attacked private houses in one of the districts of Bakhmut with phosphorus shells.

The head of GUR Kyrylo Budanov explained that from a military point of view, Bakhmut has a very advantageous position, as it opens up further ways to such cities as Slovyansk, Kramatorsk and Chasiv Yar.

Recently, Ukrainians were stunned by the story of 8-year-old Bohdan from Bakhmut, whose father and pregnant mother were killed during enemy shelling.
