Europol announced today that in the framework of an international operation at the end of last month, 382 people were arrested, suspected of trafficking in drugs, people and weapons, operating mainly in the Balkans and in South-Eastern Europe, France Press reported, quoted by BTA.

At the Bulgarian checkpoint "Capitan Andreevo", on the border with Turkey, AFP witnessed, for example, on October 28, the discovery of a migrant hidden in a hiding place in the cargo area of ​​a truck.

159 of those arrested are suspected of migrant trafficking, 112 of drug trafficking, 38 of firearms trafficking and two of human trafficking, Europol said in connection with the operation, which involved the police services of 28 countries.

As part of the operations, 2,500 illegal entries into the territory of the European Union were registered and 106 firearms were seized, according to Europol's statement.

304 kg of heroin, 147 kg of cannabis and 1.3 kg of cocaine were also seized.

Along the Balkan route, thousands of trucks enter the territory of the European Union, transporting various goods, including foodstuffs and construction materials.

This route is actively used to traffic people, firearms and drugs to European countries, Europol points out.
